I built a portable mono audio amplifier to power a speaker salvaged from a TV. The circuit is made from the LM386 amplfifier IC, and based off of example circuits from the datasheet. I designed a PCB and assembled a portable speaker setup that can be used with any device with a 3.5 mm audio jack.
The audio amplifier can drive loads from 4Ω to 32Ω , and can be powered by 5V to 12V. My circuit is currently wired for a gain of 20, but the PCB includes spots for resistor R5 and capacitor C8 to adjust the gain to any value from 20 to 200.
Features include: volume control, power indicator LED, removable output and input, and external power switch.
